Japan shows it's true colours in autumn.
The 'Shichi-Go-San' (7-5-3) coming-of-age ceremony is a vital and vibrant part of the Japanese culture. I was incredibly fortunate to be invited to capture the ceremony for Kokona and Koga. At the perfect time of year when the autumn colours are at their strongest. Two very talented kids with the world at their feet. The challenge was to get Koga to smile.

During the official shoot where even parents are not allowed to take photos, it was up to me to try to get a smile - and I did! Though, I used nearly every trick in the book, he's a stoic young boy. More often than not, the success of the day hinges on these moments. It was an experience I won't forget and their parents were delighted with the photos; "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX".
